Information To Help You Recover Deleted Pics From A Digital Camera

Copyright (c) 2009 Ed Opperman

A digital camera can be a terrific way to record and remember the wonderful moments you experience throughout your life. Unfortunately, it can be easy to accidentally delete a picture or group of photos you have taken. The good news is once you have deleted them from your camera, you can still recover deleted pics in most cases.

Your digital camera stores pictures in separate files on the memory card that is inside. There are a number of different memory cards including SD, CF, Memory Stick, and MMC Card to name a few. While there are several different brands, sizes, and models of memory cards, they all act like a floppy disc or hard drive to your camera. After deleted a picture or multiple pictures, your camera will not delete the picture file body and simply leaves them as is.

Because of this, you should be able to retrieve any pictures you have deleted. To start, you will need to connect your camera to a computer using a USB cord. If the camera does not appear as a drive letter, you can use an external USB card to read the camera. After inserting the card, it should be recognized as a drive letter in “My Computer.” This is how you will use the software tool to get the data from your memory card.

Now that the camera has been connected, you will next download some kind of picture recovery software online. There are a number of different kinds of software you can find online such as CardRecovery, PhotosRecovery, and PicRecovery. All are fairly small downloads and should be quick to install.

After downloading the software, the next step to undelete deleted pics is to run the software and follow the instructions carefully. You will then click on the welcome window and specify the drive letter of your camera or card reader. You may also want to specific the file type to retrieve and the destination location to save the recovered pictures.

Once you have selected the correct information, your computer will begin to scan the card. Depending on how much memory is on the card, it can take several minutes to perform a complete scan. As soon as the scan is complete, you will be able to preview the deleted pictures as a thumbnail and select the pictures you need. Finally, click next on the software screen and it will save the pictures you have selected to the location you specified.

If you have deleted pictures you did not want to delete, all hope is not lost. With the simple instructions listed in this article, you can recover deleted pics fairly easily. Just make sure to follow the instructions carefully in order to undelete deleted pics from your camera and memory card.

How to Download Photo’s from your Apple iPhone

About two years ago my wife discovered that she had a passion for photography, and the good news is she seems to have a naturally ability to take wonderful photos. Therefore, when I upgraded my cell phone a few months ago I knew that access to all the great photos Nicole takes would be important.

Although most of the shots I download will, be taken with a Canon the quality of the iPhones camera is very good. For an amateur like my self it takes very adequate photos and the obvious advantage is it is always in my pocket.

We currently have a windows PC and laptop at home, it is a goal to purchase a Mac for the photography business, so I will detail instructions about the downloading process for both systems.

Most things on your iPhone are managed through iTunes but when it comes to the camera on your phone that is a little bit different.

If you treat the iPhone just like you would any other digital camera you will be on the right track.

You will need to have selected some software to import photos onto the iphone and it will automatically launch when you plug the phone into your computer.

 What Software can I use?

There are many options like Photoshop elements or lightroom,Apples aperture or Adobes Bridge downloader just to name a few. Obviously a few minutes on Google will give you many options and many facts about, the various software offered.

I will forget the fancy options for a minute and provide you with some basic instructions on photo downloading.

Windows User

When you plug your iPhone in the Windows camera wizard should cut in and then it will simply allow you to download the images you have taken to a folder you set up on your computer.

Mac User

For Mac users iPhoto or image capture will launch and ask you if you wish to import your shots.

Any of the above-mentioned programs will allow you to download your photos and do whatever you would like with them. The files will save as JPEG files.

Remember that whatever software you install to import your photos will normally launch automatically.

I am finding a number of business applications for my new iPhone so I have decided to document in article form each new use that I find. If you do not have an answer to a particular iPhone question, try searching my name and iPhone and the answer may just turn up.

Camera phones – from the Intellect to the Tsunami

The term camera phone commonly refers to cellphones with a built in digital camera, that allows it to capture stills and short video clips, store them, and share them with other devices and users through wireless communications technologies.

The first mobile picture phone prototype, entitled the Intellect, was invented in 1993 by Daniel A Henderson, and now resides in the Smithsonian Museum of American History. The Intellect was a hand held cell phone with a large monochrome display that could receive and display digital picture and video data sent by a wireless transmitter, and pioneered many of the technologies and protocols that were to find their way into the modern camera phone.

During the nineties, there were several attempts to combine mobile phones with digital camera technology. Camera manufacturers Kodak and Olympus demonstrated several digital camera/mobile phone combinations at trade shows during the nineties, and Apple tried a different tack with a combined mobile videophone and PDA. Impressive as these devices were, they lacked one crucial element of the modern day cameraphone – they could not connect to the internet, and were therefore unable to quickly and easily share images with other users, without physical connection to a computer.

The first camera phone to be able to do this, the Sharp J-SH04, was released commercially in Japan in 2001, with a US release the following year.

The ability to take pictures and share them quickly and easily with others was one of the main selling points of the new 3G phone services, so naturally phone manufacturers were keen to include cameras with their new phones wherever possible in order to start making money from their expensive 3G licenses. By 2006, over half of all mobile phones had in built cameras, which was to prove catastrophic for the digital camera industry, forcing two of the big four manufacturers, Minolta and Konica, out of business.

At the end of 2008, there were over 1.9 billion cameraphones in circulation worldwide, and that figure looks set to rise even higher over the coming years.

Footage shot by citizen journalists on cameraphones has even started to crop up on major television news bulletins. The first major international breaking news story to use cameraphone footage in this way was the 2005 Boxing Day Tsunami.

With the advent of video sharing platforms such as Youtube, and its rapid acceptance as a format for breaking news footage, cameraphone footage has become an increasing part of the visual fabric of our culture.
